JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Ahmad Muzani stated that his party did not hinder DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan from running for presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election. Muzani emphasized that Anies Baswedan was not a Gerindra cadre so his party had no right to prohibit the former Minister of Education and Culture from participating in the five-year contestation. "Anies never declared himself to be a Gerindra cadre. So, all citizens have the right to choose and have the right to be elected. We cannot hinder someone's rights," said Muzani at the DPR Building, Wednesday, September 28. However, Muzani brought up Anies Baswedan's victory in the 2017 DKI Jakarta Pilkada fight. According to him, the Gerindra cadres at that time were fully fighting for the victory of Anies Baswedan. "Only the Gerindra cadres said all of them, if you remember Anies, remember 2017. How we all sacrificed, we all fought, we risked Anies in the RT-RT, villages in Jakarta and I still remember about 2,200 members of the district DPR, provinces throughout Indonesia. We sent them to Jakarta to win Anies at that time," said Muzani. Even so, Muzani advised all Gerindra cadres not to remember the kindness that has been done by others. Because he said, all kindness will definitely get revenge. "I said I only ordered one, never remind people of kindness. I said that, if it is a good thing, then there will be a reply in the future, either now or later. That's my message," said Muzani.
