Not Want To Lose, Ganjar Volunteers Will Form A Corporal Council to Compete With The Colonel's Council

JAKARTA - Several DPR members from the PDIP faction formed a team called the 'Colonel Council' to support and prepare DPR Speaker Puan Maharani to run as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election (Pilpres).

The Colonel Council has even established 'winning' posts and will move if PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri has appointed Puan Maharani as a presidential candidate.

Not to be outdone, the head of the volunteer Ganjar Pranowo Mania (GP Mania), Immanuel Ebenezer or Noel, said his party would also form a Corporal Council to prepare Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo to face the 2024 presidential election as a presidential candidate.

Noel is optimistic that the Corporal Council can compete with the Colonel Council which was created to improve the image and electability of the PDIP DPP chairman.

"We will also form a corporal council. If the elite can form a colonel council, we will form a corporal council", said Noel confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, September 21.

Noel stated that GP Mania was serious about forming this Corporal Council. Because he said, there were more members of the Corporal Council because it contained elements of the community, not the political elite.

"All supporting components, Mr. Ganjar volunteers. Whether it's from Kiai, students, workers, farmers, we will form a corporal council", said Noel.

According to Noel, the winner of the election is the people's vote. Therefore, he believes that the elite vote that is accommodated through the Colonel's Council will surely lose.

"After all, colonels and corporals, there are more corporals. Votes for elections in the context of democracy are determined by quantity. Now, this quantity has more corporals than colonels. Officers are more than corporals, right", he said.

Noel added that the Corporal Council will be inaugurated in the near future. The declaration, he said, would be held throughout Indonesia, complete with announcing its organizational structure.

"There will be, we will convey the structure of the corporal council", concluded Noel.

Previously, the member of the DPR from the PDIP faction who was the proposer of the Council of Colonels, Johan Budi, emphasized that the formation of this team was not for fear that Puan would lose competitiveness with Ganjar. Rather, it is to support and win Puan Maharani when the PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri has been appointed as a presidential candidate in 2024.

"No, I'm not afraid of losing. The matter of losing or winning is later. I'm not afraid of losing. That's a second matter for me. But I am a supporter of Mrs. Puan. Well, okay, I'll call the colonel council", said Johan Budi at the DPR building, quoted Wednesday, September 21.

Johan explained that the Council of Colonels, which consisted of twelve members and two generals, did not have a special program other than supporting Puan to be the presidential candidate. He also emphasized that this team is not related to the DPP PDIP.

"It's just like that. There is no definite program. Not related to the DPP", he said.
