JAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Environment Agency has allocated a budget for the construction of public green open spaces. For information, this program has been delayed by two years due to the reallocation of the budget for handling the COVID-19 pandemic.

"During the pandemic, 2020-2021, there was no budget allocation for the construction of public green open spaces (RTHP). Only in this year's revised budget, the budget for its construction was again allocated," said Head of the Yogyakarta City Environment, Sugeng Darmanto, Tuesday, September 20.

The construction of RTHP will be carried out in three locations spread across Warungboto, Parakaan, and Rejowinangun sub-districts with a budget allocation in each location of around Rp140 million.

According to him, the development budget allocation is not too large because the RTHP to be built in the three selected locations is not too wide.

"What we prioritize from the construction of the RTHP is to ensure that the landscape formed can function as an open space, especially the remaining time to complete the construction is quite short. It only takes about two months," he said.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Yogyakarta City DLH has a list of RTHP development plans at 26 points.

"After the budget allocation is sufficient, we will slowly pursue the construction of the RTHP which had been vacuumed for two years," he said.

Until now, the total area of green open space managed by the Yogyakarta City DLH reaches around 2.6 hectares and continues to be pursued to increase the area of green open space in order to meet the minimum target of 30 percent of the city area consisting of 20 percent of public green open space and 10 percent of private green open space.

Prior to the postponement of the construction of the RTHP, the City of Yogyakarta had 49 public green open spaces spread across all sub-districts, although it was not evenly distributed in all urban villages due to the condition of the densely populated city.

"If there are no obstacles, we will also build a fairly large RTHP, on an area of about 1,200 square meters in Wirobrajan Village in 2023," he said.

The land is a former tomb, while the DLH has taken measurements and the land clearing process has been carried out.

"We will communicate with the public for development planning so that the open space will function optimally," he said.
