PALEMBANG - Police arrested a suspect in the alleged case of sprinkling hard water to a congregation during the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad SAW on Jalan M Isa, Kuto Batu, Palembang City, South Sumatra.

Fadilah explained that the suspect MAD was suspected of pouring hard water on the congregation of the Prophet's Birthday celebration at a mosque on Jalan M Isa, on Saturday, September 3, 2019, at around 20.00 WIB.

One of the pilgrims who was the victim of watering, namely RF (84), a resident of Jalan Taqwa, Sei Selincah, Kalidoni, Palembang.

As a result of the incident, RF suffered burns to his face, chest, stomach, both brothers, and chemical trauma to his eyes.

According to Fadilah, the suspect admitted that he was desperate to do hard water because previously, MAD was first hit by stones while participating in the celebration of the Prophet's Birthday.

According to the suspect, he said, the stone throws came from the direction of the victim's group, because he was upset and then the suspect took hard water from his house which was not far from the mosque and watered it.

"After the incident, the MAD suspect immediately fled his house to Jakarta. Currently, the perpetrator has been arrested at the police station to undergo the investigation process and be held accountable for his actions," he said.

For his actions, the suspect is subject to Article 355 of the Criminal Code concerning Heavy Persecution with a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
