JAKARTA - Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS) menyambut senang Gubernur DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan, akhirnya menyatakan diri siap maju menjadi calon Presiden 2024. PKS menilai pernyataan Anies itu merupakan berita baik. "Bravo Mas Anies. This is good news," said PKS DPP chairman Mardani Ali Sera to reporters, Friday, September 16. Mardani revealed that the relationship between PKS and Anies was quite close. Therefore, PKS supports Anies and other figures to announce themselves ready to run in the upcoming 2024 presidential election. "PKS is close to Mas Anies. Bravo Mas Anies. Supporting outstanding figures announced themselves and preparing for 2024," said Mardani. The member of Commission II of the DPR said that currently Indonesia needs healthy political competitions, not discourses that can damage democracy. Mardani then mentioned the discourse of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who could run as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) in 2024. "It's not a three-term issue let alone the president being vice president. Blaspheming and hurting democracy," he said. Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan flew to Singapore in the past few days. There he was interviewed by Reuters about his plans after no longer serving as governor. To the foreign media, Anies stated that he is ready to run as a presidential candidate in the 2024 election if there are political parties or coalitions of political parties who want to carry them. "I am ready to run for president if a party nominates me," Anies told Reuters in an interview in Singapore, Thursday, September 15. Anies revealed that he has room to communicate with all parties in order to participate in the political contestation in the next two years.
