The KPK Expresses That The Auction Of Services And Projects In Papua Is Often Bancakan

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that the procurement of goods and services as well as infrastructure projects in Papua is often a bancakan. Officials and contractors usually agree to carry out presumptuous practices.

Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata said they often received information from anti-corruption activists and businessmen in Papua. From there, it was found that project arrangements often occur.

"We have discussed, yes, from the anti-corruption activists and business actors in Papua, yes, the average problem with the auction for the procurement of infrastructure goods and services, there have been previous arrangements," said KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata in Jakarta, Thursday, September 15.

Alexander also revealed that there were many complaints that there were companies that won the project even though the auction had not yet been carried out. However, the KPK is waiting for evidence before taking action.

"This, of course, will be explored in the investigation process, of course, it is not limited to bribery when the construction or auction process or appointment has a bribery impact, the impact must be there when the implementer of the development itself," he said.

The action, continued Alexander, was carried out because the impudent practice in the procurement of goods and services affected the condition. "The process, for example, is low, does not match the contract or there is a mark-up. That must happen," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK confirmed that it had named Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe as a suspect. The case that ensnared him has not been detailed, but the incumbent governor has been prevented from going abroad for six months.

The Directorate General of Immigration said that the prevention was requested by the KPK for six months.

"The Directorate of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement (Ditwasdakim) of the Directorate General of Immigration has received a prevention application to the subject on behalf of Lukas Enembe," said Director of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement I Nyoman Gede Surya Mataram in a written statement, Monday, September 12.

In addition, the KPK has also named two regional heads in Papua. They are Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng who was involved in allegations of corruption in the construction of the Kingmi Mile 32 Church and the Regent of Central Mamberamo Ricky Ham Pagawak related to allegations of bribery and gratification in project procurement.
