CIANJUR - The Cianjur Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUTR), West Java built an emergency bridge connecting Cianjur-Sukabumi Regency which was broken due to the swift swift current of the river. The bridge was cut off in Cimteng Village, Campaka District after being swept away by heavy rain for approximately two hours. Head of PUTR Cianjur Eri Rihendiar said the high rainfall since the past week caused the bridge foundation for connecting between districts for 5 meters to break. As a result, vehicles cannot be passed from Cianjur or Sukabumi directions. "At the time of the incident there were no vehicles passing, so there were no casualties or material when the bridge was broken. The bridge connecting Cianjur and Sukabumi was the main access for residents from two districts to carry out their activities," he said in Cianjur, Antara, Tuesday, September 13. After directly reviewing with the Cianjur BPBD, his party will carry out temporary handling by building an emergency bridge using iron plates as a basis. He hopes that the presence of this emergency bridge will help residents' activities because alternative routes make the distance further. "We have built it immediately in the last few days, so that residents' activities are not hampered, especially economic activities because the bridge is the main connecting access between districts," he said. Secretary of BPBD Cianjur Rudi Wibowo said the bridge connecting districts, Cianjur and Sukabumi, precisely in Cimenteng Village, Campaka District, broke down after heavy rains from Monday night until Tuesday afternoon. "River water overflowed, so the soil under the bridge was eroded, so the bridge support collapsed and part of the bridge was broken. The 1997 bridge was the main access for residents in two districts so that residents' activities were hampered because they did not pass," he said. His party has coordinated with the relevant agencies to carry out quick handling so that activities, especially school children, can return to normal. Currently, residents who want to carry out activities are forced to go through rivers that can threaten safety, especially school-age children.
