JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Prasetyo Edi Marsudi explained the purpose of his meeting with President Joko Widodo at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta, a few days ago. Prasetyo admitted that he and Jokowi discussed the candidate for Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta which would be proposed by the DKI DPRD as many as 3 names, as well as three other names which were also prepared by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri). The six names of the candidates for the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta who will take the lead from 2022 to 2024 are stated through a circular letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the DKI DPRD. "So we were summoned by the president regarding the circular letter from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Then we as members of the council are representatives of the people, because we were chosen by the people. Well, whose names are they, please decide later. However, all decisions are in the Minister of Home Affairs and the president," said Prasetyo at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Monday, September 12. In this case, Prasetyo emphasized that he did not intervene in the process of determining the candidate for Acting Governor of DKI by handing Jokowi his name directly. "No, I didn't deposit the name (the candidate for the Acting Governor of DKI to Jokowi," he said. Furthermore, the PDIP politician said that his party held a joint leadership meeting (rapimgab) of the DKI Jakarta DPRD faction twice to determine the names of the three candidates for the Acting Governor of DKI. Based on the results of the agreement, each faction can propose three names each to be submitted. In addition, every leadership of the DKI DPRD consisting of the chairman and four deputy chairmen can also apply three names each. Thus, a total of 42 names will be filtered into three names by the DKI Jakarta DPRD as candidates for the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta. After that, the three names will be proposed to the Ministry of Home Affairs to be elected by President Joko Widodo. "So, there are a total of 42 names that we will vote on, what are the names (calon of the Acting Governor of DKI) which are the most among the names listed tomorrow. This depends on each faction. We do not intervene in all factions. Please set the names that are appropriate to lead Jakarta and we can see," he explained. Previously, the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian had sent a letter to the DKI Jakarta DPRD regarding the proposed name of the candidate for the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta. In the letter, Tito asked the DKI DPRD to prepare three candidate names to be submitted. It was stated in the letter that the DKI DPRD had a proposed name until September 16, 2022 or one month before the term of office of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan ended on October 16, 2022. "The proposal for the name of the candidate for acting Governor of DKI Jakarta is submitted no later than September 16, 2022, to the President through the Minister of Home Affairs," Tito wrote in a letter. Later, these three candidates will be juxtaposed with three other names selected by the Ministry of Home Affairs. In the end, one of the names of the candidates will be chosen by President Joko Widodo to serve as Acting Governor of DKI.
