BEKASI - State Civil Apparatus (ASN) was asked to be neutral during the 2024 General Election. There are several things that are prohibited from ASN from doing during the 2024 General Election stage.

To regulate all of this, the City Government (Bekasi) issued a circular letter. It contained instructions to ASN in the area to maintain neutrality during the 2024 Simultaneous Election stages.

"This circular was made with the aim of maintaining togetherness, neutrality, and the spirit of the ASN Corps in responding to the political situation within the Bekasi City Government," said Bekasi City Secretary Reny Hendrawati, as quoted from Antara, Saturday, September 10.

He explained that the circular letter number 800/5878/BKPSDM.PKA was a follow-up to a letter sent by the Bekasi City Election Supervisory Board with the number 069/PM.01.2/K.JB-21/08/2022 dated August 22, 2022.

The circular instructs all regional heads of apparatus to supervise subordinates during the election stage to continue to comply with the applicable laws and regulations.

Maintain a conducive climate and provide opportunities to exercise free voting rights and maintain neutrality, and do not mobilize employees within the regional apparatus.

"And it is not affected to carry out activities that lead to taking sides with the 2024 election participants," he said.

Reny also asked all ASNs to be guided by Government Regulation Number 94 of 2021 article 5 letter n related to the prohibition of providing support to Presidential/Vice Presidential Candidates, regional heads, members of the DPR, DPRD, and DPD.

The policy includes the ban on ASN from participating in campaigns, becoming campaign participants, mobilizing campaigns by deploying other ASNs, using state facilities for campaigns, as well as making decisions and/or actions that benefit or harm one candidate pair.

"The ban is valid before, during, or after the campaign period," he said.

Bekasi City ASN is also prohibited from holding activities that lead to taking sides with candidate pairs and providing support letters accompanied by photocopies of ID cards or residents' certificates.

"Civil Servants who do not comply with the provisions are subject to disciplinary punishment in accordance with Government Regulation Number 94 of 2021 article 13 letter g and Article 14 letter i," he said.

Reny appealed to all ASN and non-ASN employees in Bekasi City to be able to carry out the regulations that have been made and work in accordance with the orders that have been set.
