BABEL - The Central Bangka Regency Government, Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel), has held routine patrols to control compreng ships.

The Regent of Central Bangka, Algafry Rahman, said that the control was confirmed by a compreng boat belonging to fishermen who did not have an operating permit in the waters of the Babel area.

"We have coordinated with the Babel Provincial Government to help carry out patrols and control if a compact ship is found operating in the Des Kurau sea area," said Algafry in Koba, Babel, quoted from Antara, Friday 9 September.

The Regent said it was addressing the complaints of fishermen in Kurau Village regarding the existence of a compact boat belonging to foreign fishermen which has a capacity of 30 to 50 gross tons with more sophisticated fishing equipment.

"We carry out patrols and see how far this compact ship operates, if it violates, it is certainly feared that it could disrupt security and disturb small fishermen in Kurau Village," he said.

Head of Polairud Polres Central Bangka Iptu Eddy S added that the police had taken the initiative to hold routine patrols.

"This routine patrol certainly coordinates with the Babel Ditpolair and the Babel DKP to anticipate the activities of compact boats in the Central Bangka Sea area, precisely in Kurau Village," he said.

Previously, the Central Bangka Polairud had also received reports from fishermen regarding the large number of compact boats operating in the catch area of Central Bangka fishermen.

"The compreng ship legally has a permit from the relevant ministry, but the operating area must be above 12 miles," he said.

Ia menjelaskan, sesuai dengan Permen Nomor 71 Tahun 2016 wilayah penangkap kapal compreng yang berkapasitas 30 GT harus di atas 12 mil.

"Of course operating under 12 miles is clearly wrong and must be brought under control, we will act if found and handed over to the Babel DKP," he said.
