CIANJUR - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cianjur Regency noted that hundreds of housing units in Cimenteng Village, Campaka District, were damaged by a tornado on Wednesday, September 7 evening.

Secretary of BPBD Cianjur Rudi Wibowo said four housing units were almost razed to the ground. Data collection is still being carried out, including residents who have to evacuate.

He said the village that was severely affected was Cimenteng Village.

"The data collection on refugees is still ongoing, but it is certain that four families consisting of 15 people have fled to their relatives' homes because their houses collapsed almost to the ground, while dozens of other heads of families whose houses were lightly damaged had made minimal repairs," he said.

Meanwhile, the PMI Cianjur Volunteer Field Coordinator, Iksan Maulana, said that of the 118 houses damaged, four of them uninhabitable, 12 houses were heavily damaged on the roof, while the rest suffered minor and moderate damage.

"We will place dozens of volunteers to help residents repair most of the damaged houses on the roof. For assistance, materials such as roofs and reng wood are needed," he said.
