Bangka Belitung Police Secures 1 Ton Of Solar From Residents' Warehouse In Pangkalpinang

PANGKALPINANG - The Bangka Belitung Islands Police have secured 1 ton of subsidized bio-diesel fuel oil (BBM) from the warehouses of residents of Kampak Village, Pangkalpinang City as a commitment by the police to eradicate the misuse of subsidized fuel.

"We are carrying out law enforcement by the order of the National Police Chief to give strict sanctions to perpetrators of misuse of subsidized fuel", said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pangkalpinang Police, AKP Adi Putra, as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, September 7.

From the security of the subsidized bio-diesel, the police arrested the suspect with the initials SG (46), a resident of Pangkalpinang City. The suspect is now being detained at the Pangkalpinang Police for the development of the legal process.

"We hope that no more residents dare to play with subsidized fuel because it will result in social conflict in the community", he said.

Meanwhile, South Sumatra's Area Manager of Communication, Relations, and CSR, Tjahyo Nikho Indrawan, appreciates and fully supports the police who have taken action against the misuse of subsidized fuel so that people who are entitled receive the fuel.

"Pertamina will also impose sanctions on every gas station that is proven to have violated the applicable regulations", he said.

According to him, of the many cases of misuse of subsidized fuel, the most common methods are hoarding and smuggling subsidized fuel, buying subsidized fuel in jerry cans without a permit for resale and selling subsidized fuel to industry players.

"Pertamina has firmly instructed all gas station distribution agencies in the South Sumatra region to carry out the distribution of subsidized fuel by applicable regulations", he said.

He hoped that the public would buy fuel at Pertamina's official outlets (SPBU and Pertashop) with guaranteed quality and safety and not refill and stockpile because fuel is a hazardous material that can cause fires and fatalities.

"Strict action against hoarders, industries, and individuals who misappropriate subsidized fuel has been regulated in Article 55 of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation and is sentenced to a maximum imprisonment of 6 years and a maximum fine of IDR 60 billion", he said.
