Trading Locations Will Be Ordered, The Mandiri River Code Community Association Complaints To The Yogyakarta DPRD

YOGYAKARTA - The People's Association of Kali Code Mandiri DIY complained about their fate to the Yogyakarta City DPRD regarding the control plan carried out by the Serayu Opak River Basin the near future.

"We will lose our place to make a living if the control is carried out. In fact, we have occupied this area since the 1970s. It has been a very long time," said Chairman of the Kali Code Mandiri Community Association DIY Kris Triwanto during an audience at the Yogyakarta City DPRD, Tuesday, September 6.

According to Kris, there are 16 families who depend on their fate by opening stalls and selling along the banks of the Code River which is south of the Tungkak Bridge.

He did not deny that the environmental conditions in the selling area looked shabby because most of them were semi-permanent buildings.

"So, in our opinion, it would be better if the arrangement was carried out, not controlling or evictions without any relocation options to other places," he said.

Kris is worried that if the control will still be carried out, it will have the potential to cause public ills because residents lose their income.

Therefore, the association that already has a plan for structuring still hopes that there will be mediation and communication with the Serayu Opak River Basin Center (BBWSO).

Kris said the control arose because there were plans from Mergangsan District to organize riverbanks as green open spaces.

"I think if there is no letter from the sub-district to BBWSO, this control plan will not appear," he added.

Meanwhile, a member of the Yogyakarta City DPRD, Antonius Fokky Ardianto, who received an audience, asked the community to continue to open up discussion and communication rooms so that a fair solution was obtained.

"The right to land must also be clear. Whether the land occupied by the residents belongs to BBWSO or not. Residents must understand if the land is indeed the authority of BBWSO," he said.

BBWSO plans control on September 14, 2022. The land occupied by traders is the border of the river so that it has the status of state land.
