LSI Presidential Candidate Survey: Ganjar 24.5 Persen And Prabowo 21.3 Percent

JAKARTA - A presidential candidate survey conducted by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) shows that Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto received the most support.

"This time we still find the same pattern as before that the top three are still Ganjar Pranowo, Prabowo Subianto, and Anies Baswedan," said LSI Executive Director Djayadi Hanan as quoted by Antara, Sunday, September 4.

Djayadi explained that Ganjar Pranowo received 24.5 percent support, Minister of Defense and General Chair of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto 21.3 percent, and Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan 19.3 percent.

Even so, LSI has not been able to confirm the figure who is truly superior among the three figures because the difference in the support for the three is less than five percent.

"For example, Ganjar and Anies are at a difference of less than five percent, even though the margin of error for this survey is 2.9 percent. So, the difference between the highest and the lowest support," he explained.

Next, other names that emerged as chosen respondents were the Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil (10.4 percent), Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimuti Yudhoyono/AHY (2.9 percent), Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno (1.9 percent), Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir (1.7 percent), and Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives as well as Chairman of the PDI-P Party DPP Puan Maharani (1.3 percent).

Furthermore, there is the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa (1.2 percent), the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs as well as the General Chair of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto (1.1 percent), the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD (0.8 percent), the Chairman of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo (0.7 percent), and the General Chairperson of the National Awakening Party Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar (0.6 percent).

Then, there are also Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati (0.6 percent), Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini (0.5 percent), Minister of Trade and General Chairperson of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Zulkifli Hasan (0.1 percent), and former TNI Commander General TNI (ret.) Gatot Nurmantyo (0.1 percent).

Meanwhile, there are about 9.8 percent of respondents who claim they do not know or do not answer their president of choice if the presidential election is currently being held.

On that occasion, Djayadi also explained the results of a survey regarding the choice of vice president from respondents if the presidential election was held at this time.

The results of the LSI survey show that the figures who have received the most support to become vice presidential candidates are Ridwan Kamil (16.6 percent), Anies (14.3 percent), Sandiaga Uno (10 percent), Ganjar (8.5 percent), Erick (8.1 percent), and AHY (4.7 percent).

Then regarding the presidential and vice presidential pairs of the respondents' choice in the survey, it was found that if Prabowo paired with Erick Thohir from the Gerindra Party coalition, they would get the most support of 37.8 percent.

Next, the Ganjar-Puan pair if they advance from PDIP get support of 28.2 percent and Airlangga-Ridwan Kamil if carried by the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) gets 16.8 percent.

"Another name in the simulation is Prabowo-Erick 37.6 percent, Ganjar-Sandi 32.2 percent, and Airlangga-Ridwan Kamil 14.9 percent," said Djayadi.

Regarding the methodology of this survey, Djayadi explained that the survey population is all Indonesian citizens who have the right to vote in general elections, namely, those who are 17 years old or older or those who are already married when the survey is conducted.

From that population, LSI collects samples using a multistage random sampling method with 1,220 samples.

Respondents who were selected were interviewed from August 13 to 21, 2022, face-to-face by interviewers who had been trained.

With a multilevel random withdrawal, the sample size of 1,220 respondents had tolerance or a margin of error of approximately 2.9 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.
