The Metro Police Chief's Plan Behind Drag Race Benjamin Sueb: Becoming Sportainment

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran plans to make Benjamin Sueb's road which has been used as a drag race event, a sports event in Jakarta. He made this statement when he officially opened the fourth drag race on the road in the Central Jakarta area, Saturday, September 3.

"We are trying whether this ecosystem can also become a sports event," said Fadil Imran, Saturday, September 3.

According to him, efforts to make Benjamin Sueb's path a sports venue have begun. Because, not only inviting motorcycle racing to be held at that location. Several other sports are also held. For example, boxing or boxing.

"So the combination of drag race and boxing we hope to become a sport that can be a positive activity that is beneficial," he said.

Meanwhile, for the drag race event, Fadil said the event was a big achievement. This is because the Benjamin Sueb area is called a sacred location for motorcycle racing for the hobbyists of this sport.

"Konon Benyamin Sueb is a sacred location for the street race. The PMJ street race in Kemayoran is the first and largest in the history of the 500 meter legal drag race in DKI Jakarta which was carried out on public roads with an extraordinary crowd that unites all groups and racing fans," said Fadil.

With this drag force activity, Fadil hopes that people who have a racing hobby will no longer violate the rules. Because, they usually block roads and do not care about security and traffic.

"The ecosystem, which consists of racers, mechanics and support Umkm, will certainly be active in sports events. In total there are 1,050 people, this is extraordinary, hopefully this can broadcast to the community and colleagues so that they stop treks and block public roads. If our friends unite and cooperate, we will facilitate them," said Fadil.
