JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has again extended the Transitional Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) for 14 days until 6 December. This step was taken in anticipation of a spike in COVID-19 cases.

The Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan said that the extension of the PSBB for the Transitional Period was based on the Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Number 1100 of 2020.

"As we all know, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government can implement an emergency brake policy if there is a significant increase in cases or an alarming rate of transmission. This will endanger health system services," said Anies in a written statement received by VOI, Sunday, November 22.

Based on epidemiological data during the implementation of the transitional PSBB in the past two weeks, said Anies, the condition of the Jakarta COVID-19 outbreak was still under control and headed safe. However, the public still has to be more vigilant and more disciplined in health protocols.

Meanwhile, daily reports of positive cases in Jakarta reached a new record of 1,579 cases per day on Saturday, November 21, yesterday.

"This condition should not make us even more ignorant and undisciplined. Remember, transmission still occurs even though it is slowing down. In the future, we will increasingly enforce the rules on health protocols and we hope that the public will be proactive when they know about violations," he said.

Anies also appealed to the public not to worry about reporting if they feel exposed or have symptoms. Because, this is a joint effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"This is the time for us to be more vigilant and disciplined with health protocols. This means that transmission is still occurring and we must be more vigilant. If we feel or know that someone else is symptomatic or has been exposed to a positive case, we open the phone number of the Jakarta Covid-19 Response Post, namely at 112 and 081112112112, "he said.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, said Anies, also opened a telephone number and message service via WhatsApp at 081388376955.

Anies again reminded that COVID-19 is an infectious disease which is not only seen by its high cure rate, but also by its easy and massive transmission. Therefore, the discipline of implementing health protocols must be applied.

"Let us protect all medical personnel, health workers as the last line of defense. The front line to alleviate this disease is all of us by reducing the number of infections. Stay disciplined with health protocols. Report any violations. Don't hesitate to contact us," he said.

Previously, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. The total cumulative cases totaled 49,7668 since the first cases were announced on March 2. Meanwhile, new positive cases per day reached 4,360 people.

Cases recovered today increased by 4,233 people, so that a total of 418,188 people recovered. Meanwhile, 110 confirmed positive cases died and a total of 15,884 people died.

The province with the most new cases was in DKI Jakarta with 1,342 new cases and a total of 12,7164 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

"The 3M disciplinary community (wearing masks, washing hands and keeping a distance), we in the government will continue to promote 3T, namely Testing, Tracing, and Treatment," said Anies.
