JAKARTA - Islamic countries have become a traditional Russian partner in solving most regional and global issues, President Vladimir Putin said Monday.

It was delivered in its telegram, to participants and guests of the ongoing global youth summit in Kazan, a cultural center as well as a city with Russia's largest Muslim adherents.

"Islamic countries have traditionally become our partners, in solving pressing issues on regional and global agendas, as part of efforts to build a more just and democratic world order," said President Putin's telegram published on the Kremlin's website.

The Russian president highlighted the fact that Kazan City was awarded the title OKI (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) 'Youth Capital 2022', which proves how high Russia's ties to this international organization are.

President Putin believes the delegation to the forum will be able to hold substantial discussions and outline promising projects for cooperation.

"The summit is expected to help increase mutual understanding and trust between the population of Russia and Islamic countries," he added.

Kazan is currently hosting the fifth Global Youth Diplomat Forum. The gathering, which began on Saturday and will last until Tuesday, was attended by youth and sports ministers from OIC member countries, full-power representatives, consultant generals, and leaders of youth organizations, in addition to young entrepreneurs and researchers.
