9 Students Become Suspects Of Murder In City Forests, Paser Police Ask Balikpapan Fathers To Give Assistance

KALTIM - The Paser Resort Police (Polres), East Kalimantan (Kaltim), named nine teenagers as suspects in the case of beatings that resulted in the murder of RR (16).

"All of them who have been detained have been named as suspects," said Head of Pidum Satreskrim Polres Paser Iptu Andi Ferial in Tanah Grogot, Monday, August 29.

He said the nine suspects had now been detained for further legal proceedings.

Considering that the suspects are still students, his party has coordinated with the Balikpapan Correctional Center (Bapas) for legal assistance.

"The team has asked the Balikpapan Fathers for assistance," said Andi.

RR, died after being beaten by a group of teenagers in the Tanah Grogot City Forest Area on Tuesday, August 23, while MF (16), a friend of the victim was injured.

In this incident, the police arrested nine teenagers suspected of being the perpetrators of the beating, all of whom were known to be students.

"We have arrested nine teenagers who are all students and are suspected of being the perpetrators," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit Gandha Syah Hidayat during a press conference at the Paser Police Headquarters, last Friday (26/8).

The nine teenagers suspected of being the perpetrators of the beating were identified with the initials MI (16), MA (15), AM (17), MR (15), AT (22), M (18), MJ (23), NZ (20), MRR (19).

In addition to securing the perpetrators of the beatings, the police also confiscated evidence, including two bottles of used liquor, one piece of trousers belonging to the victim RR and one sheet of jacket belonging to the victim who suffered serious injuries.

As a result of the beating, the victim RR from the results of an external examination suffered broken wounds to the lips, broken teeth, bruises on the back of the head, legs and hands. The victim finally died after receiving treatment at the hospital.

In this case, the police ensnared the perpetrators under Article 80 Paragraph 2 of Law no. 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law No. 23 of 2022 concerning Child Protection or Article 170 of the Criminal Code and Article 80 Paragraph 3 of Law no. 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law No. 23 of 2022 concerning Child Protection or Article 170 of the Criminal Code.
