Metro Police Study Reporting File From PPP Chief Suharso Monoarfa About 'Kyai Envelope'

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya stated that the report file against the General Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP), Suharso Monoarfa, regarding the alleged blasphemy of religion was being studied by the investigative team.

It was reported that Suharso Monoarfa was the aftermath of his speech which alluded to the 'kyai's envelope'.

"Yes, the report is true, it has been received by Polda Metro Jaya and investigators are studying it," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes E. Zulpan to reporters, Thursday, August 25.

For further steps, the investigative team will ask for information from the complainant. The goal is to explore the context of reporting.

The investigative team will also clarify the reported party. Thus, the allegations reported will be clearer.

"Yes, it is clear that the name of the police report will be taken from the statement of who the reporter is. After the complainant and the supporting evidence, it will be reported," said Zulpan.

Suharso Monoarfa reported to Polda Metro Jaya. The report was the aftermath of his speech which alluded to the 'envelope of the kiai' so that it was considered a blasphemy of religion.

The report is registered with the number LP/B/428/VII/2022/SPKT/Polda Metro Jaya, dated August 20, 2022. Several pieces of evidence are included, for example, a recording of Suharso's speech about the 'kiai envelope'. Article 156 A of the Criminal Code regarding hate speech and or blasphemy against a religion.
