Anies Baswedan Brings Up Ahok Era's Evictions When Inaugurating Cakung Flats: 6 Years Ago Tears Flowing Because The House Was Demolished

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan brought up the eviction of residents' settlements in Bukit Duri during the leadership of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) in 2016.

The allegation of the incident was conveyed by Anies when he inaugurated the Cakung Growing Productive Flats for the residents of the eviction victims. This rental apartment is located on Jalan Kavling DPR Kampung Pulo Jahe, Jatinegara, Cakung, East Jakarta.

Anies said that the sadness of the residents of Bukit Duri during the eviction for the normalization of the Ciliwung River in 2016 was no longer felt. Currently, they feel happy because they have got a new home.

"Today, if we look at August 25, it's almost exactly 6 years. If in September (2016) the tears flowed because the house was demolished, then in August 2022 tears may fall because they are touched to have a new house in this place," said Anies on location, Thursday, August 25.

"We, the state must promise not to repeat the events that happened in Bukit Duri. That has become history. The DKI Provincial Government is like that, we can no longer take actions like what we witnessed. We will take lessons in the future," Anies continued.

This apartment has been under construction since October 2021. The development of this flat is planned collaboratively with the residents through a community action plan (CAP).

The building is located on HPL Number 4 belonging to the Central Small and Medium Enterprises and Settlement Management Area Management Unit (UPK PPUKMP), with a total of 3 blocks, 5 floors, and 75 residential units.

The Cakung Growing Productive Flats Village was built with a residential unit area of 36 square meters, consisting of a private room of 21 square meters and a business space of 15 square meters. Business space is provided to provide opportunities for residents to develop home economic productivity from their residential units.

The design of the residential unit is made with a mezzanine concept which contains a bedroom, family room, kitchen, bathroom, balcony, and business/production space in each residential unit.

The distance between the floors of the building has a height of 396 cm. With this high floor space, it is possible to develop an economic area for various types of businesses or it can also be converted into additional residential units in the future.
