Bringing 106 Evidence In Pretrial Session, KPK Believes It Will Win From Mimika Regent

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is confident that it will win the pretrial lawsuit filed by Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng at the South Jakarta District Court. Moreover, during the trial there were hundreds of pieces of evidence brought.

"During the trial process, the KPK has brought around 106 pieces of evidence," said KPK News Section Head Ali Fikri to reporters, Thursday, August 25.

The KPK is also sure that the expert testimony will refute the various pretrial reasons that Eltinus has put forward. The regent filed a lawsuit to the South Jakarta District Court because he had been named a suspect in the alleged corruption of the Kingmi Mile 32 Church.

"We believe that the pre-trial single judge will decide objectively and reject all the arguments put forward by the Petitioner, thus stating that the investigation carried out by the KPK has been in accordance with the procedure and is legal according to law," said Ali.

For information, the alleged corruption of the Kingmi Mile 32 Church construction project phase one for the 2015 fiscal year in Mimika Regency, Papua has entered the investigation stage. The church project is estimated to cost around Rp160 billion.

The KPK has also named two suspects in the alleged corruption in the construction of the Kingmi Mile 32 Church in Mimika, Papua. However, it is not clear who the suspects are.

The announcement of the relevant parties as well as their legal status along with the construction of the case will be delivered together with the forced detention. Usually it will be done in a press conference.
