Tanjung Alai Mukomuko Resident Reports Company Suspected Of Polluting River

MUKOMUKO - Residents of Tanjung Alai Village, Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu Province reported PT Karya Sawitindo Mas (KSM), a palm oil mill suspected of having polluted the Kukun River in the area.

PT KSM residents complained to the local Environmental Service. After reporting, the residents together with village officials and related agencies saw water that was suspected to be contaminated with waste at PT KSM.

Tanjung Alai Village Head Buzakri said that his party had often received reports from residents who saw factory waste being dumped into the Kukun River.

Reports from residents who have seen factory waste being dumped into the river in this area since 2021 are then forwarded to the relevant agencies. Unfortunately until now there has been no response from the company.

The Head of the Mukomuko Regency Environmental Service, M Rizon, said that his party had sent a team to check the sewage ponds and river water that were suspected to be contaminated with sewage.

Based on the results of the inspection by the Environment Agency together with village officials and residents, it was found that there was silting or sedimentation of all waste pools so that wastewater overflowed out and into the ditch leading to the river.

Then the factory washing water enters a pond that experiences sedimentation and when it rains it overflows into a ditch to the Kukun River.

Not only that, the drainage around the factory environment is very bad and dirty, the cleanliness of the factory environment is very bad.
