DENPASAR - The public prosecutor through the Head of Legal Information at the Bali High Prosecutor's Office, A. Luga Harlianto, responded to the verdict against I Gede Ari Astina, known as Jerinx SID. The AGO said the judge's verdict was in accordance with the trial.

"We appreciate the panel of judges who have decided based on the material validity of the evidence at this criminal trial and not based on existing assumptions," Luga told reporters quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 19.

But Luga said that the team of public prosecutors were still considering accepting or appealing the 14-month prison sentence against Jerinx.

"If from this verdict the defendant filed an appeal, he exercised his right against his dissatisfaction with the decision. Of course we will be given the right to reply later in the counter appeal memorandum. So later as a follow-up to his appeal statement, that the defendant is obliged to make a memory," explained Luga. .

"That the panel of judges has found and decided whether the material truth in the trial is because the core of the criminal trial is looking for material truth. Meanwhile, the lawyer for the defendant Jerinx, Sugeng Teguh Santoso, said after the trial that his client was disappointed with the judge's decision.

"Jrx's expression is quite disappointed with this verdict, it's clear. So we will respond carefully, and Jrx said that he will use seven days to think as well as the seven days prosecutor," said Sugeng.

According to him, the things put forward by the linguist that were the key to this case, namely Drs Jiwa Atmaja, were not considered at all, because this case was based on expert considerations.

Jerinx was found guilty of committing a criminal act knowingly and without the right to disseminate information aimed at inciting hatred.
