3 AGO Fire Suspects Suspended, Wife And Lawyer Became Bail

JAKARTA - National Police investigators did not arrest three suspects in the fire case in the main building of the Attorney General's Office after investigators had questioned them. The three suspects with the initials MD, JM and IS were not detained because the investigators decided to grant the request for suspension of detention submitted by the suspect's attorneys.

"The suspect MD was not detained because there was a letter of suspension of detention from his attorney and with a guarantee from his wife. Likewise, JM and IS were not detained because there was a letter requesting a suspension of detention from the legal attorney," said the Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Ferdy Sambo. Jakarta quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 19.

Investigators examined the MD, JM and IS suspects for six hours at the Directorate of General Crime, Bareskrim Polri. During the examination, investigators asked 71 questions to the suspect MD. While JM and IS received 58 questions and 47 questions, respectively.

In the case of the Attorney General's building fire, National Police investigators have named 11 suspects. The five suspects are construction workers with the initials S, H, T, K, IS. Then the building foreman's initials UAM.

The suspect RS as the Director of PT APM which produces Top Cleaner liquid cleaners. The suspect was NH as the Head of Sub Division of Sarpras and Commitment Making Officer of the Attorney General's Office.

Furthermore, the suspect MD, whose role was to borrow the PT APM flag. Then the suspect JM as the 2019 Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP) Procurement Consultant who is concurrently the director of the factory that provides the Seven brand ACP.

Finally, the suspect is IS as the AGO's Commitment Making Officer (PPK) in 2019.

In determining the suspect, the police stated that they did not find an element of intent.

The cause of the fire at the Attorney General's Office Main Building was because five masons had neglected to smoke in the Personnel Bureau Hall, 6th floor of the Main Office of the Attorney General's Office. At that time, they were repairing the room but while smoking even though there were flammable materials such as glue, thinner, paper, carpet and others.

Then the fire quickly spread, triggered by the remaining Top Cleaner cleaning fluid on each floor. The cleaning fluid turned out to contain diesel.

In addition, there is also an ACP material that is not fire resistant, which causes a bigger fire.
