GRESIK - President Joko Widodo inaugurated the Moed'har Arifin Grand Mosque which can accommodate up to 3,000 worshippers and is often a religious tourism destination in Gresik Regency, East Java.

Before the inauguration, President Jokowi and his entourage took time to tour inside the Moed'har Arifin Grand Mosque.

The President asked many questions about the history of the establishment and use of the mosque for the surrounding community and had time to take pictures together inside the mosque.

"This is an extraordinary mosque," said President Joko Widodo in a press release quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 22.

The Grand Mosque of Moed'har Arifin began to be built in 2018 and was used in 2020 on the initiative of two brothers, namely H. Achmad Moed'har Syah (late) and H. Achmad Djauar Arifin, who are the founders of the Polowijo Gosari Group.

The mosque, which can accommodate around 3,000 worshipers, is often used as part of the Wali Songo pilgrimage series or religious tourism destinations from all over Indonesia.

The chairman of the Harfin Gosari Foundation which oversees the Grand Mosque of Moed'har Arifin Gresik's Personal Education Arifin said the mosque always provides a meal together after every Friday prayer and prepares snacks and drinks after every morning prayer.

This habit makes the mosque always busy with activities so that it is in accordance with the vision of becoming a glorifying and unifying mosque for international Muslims.

"We hope that the inauguration of this mosque by President Joko Widodo will motivate the devotees of the Great Mosque of Moed'har Arifin to do the best and especially for the congregation," said Didik.
