Strong Winds Hit Padang Pariaman, 1 House Was Damaged By Falling Trees

SUMBAR - A total of three trees fell due to rain and strong winds that hit Padang Pariaman Regency in West Sumatra in the last few days in a row.

"The tree fell on the road so that it interfered with residents' access and even hit people's houses," said Padang Pariaman BPBD Chief Executive Budi Mulya in Parik Malintang, Monday, August 22.

From the observations, the area experienced rain and strong winds from Thursday 18 August to Sunday 21 August, with moderate to high intensity.

BPBD noted that the first fallen tree occurred on Friday, August 20, in Nagari Sikucue Timur, District V Koto. The tree fell on the house of a local resident, Jhoni Anwar, who is a casual daily laborer.

BPBD Padang Pariaman estimates that the loss due to the disaster that occurred at 18.00 WIB was around Rp. 7 million.

On Saturday, August 20, a fallen tree fell on the road that connects Tanjung Basung with Ketaping in Nagari Sungai Buluah Barat, Batang Anai District.

As a result of the incident that occurred at around 19.30 WIB, public access was disrupted until the Padang Pariaman BPBD Rapid Response Team cleaned the tree material.

A fallen tree also occurred in Nagari Pasie Laweh Lubuak Aluang, Lubuak Aluang District on Sunday, August 21, which was also caused by strong winds that hit the area.

The tree also fell on the road in the nagari, disrupting vehicle access in the area.

Based on the Antara report, BPBD appealed to residents and motorists in the area to continue to be vigilant considering the area was prone to experiencing extreme weather in recent days.

He said that until now there have been no reports of casualties due to the extreme weather that hit the area in the last few days. However, due to the extreme weather, the electricity supply in a number of districts was disrupted.
