PB IDI Asks Health Workers To Immediately Report To The Health Office If You See Symptoms Similar To Monkeypox

JAKARTA - The Executive Board of the Indonesian Doctors Association (PB IDI) is intensifying cross-regional coordination in an effort to detect monkeypox or Monkeypox, which has now been detected as many as one case in DKI Jakarta.

"We ask the medical team and health workers (nakes) to remain vigilant and immediately report to the local health office if a patient is found with symptoms similar to monkeypox, so that it can be immediately handled and followed up," said PB IDI Chairman Adib Khumaidi in a written statement, Sunday. , August 21.

Adib made this statement in response to the discovery of the first case of Monkeypox or monkeypox experienced by a resident in DKI Jakarta.

According to Adib, PB IDI continues to coordinate with the Indonesian Ministry of Health and health offices in all regions, as well as regional IDI and branch IDI regarding the awareness of the disease.

Adib also appealed to the public to remain calm and at the same time be alert to the findings of the first case of monkeypox in Indonesia.

The head of the Monkeypox Task Force or Clades PB IDI, Dr. Hanny Nilasari, reminded that although there has been relaxation of activities in various places, the community still needs to maintain strict health protocols, and be more active in carrying out Clean and Healthy Lifestyles (PHBS).

"Those who feel symptomatic can immediately seek treatment from the nearest doctor," he said.

Saturday, August 20, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Mohammad Syahril, announced the first confirmed case of monkeypox in Indonesia, a 27-year-old man from DKI Jakarta.

The patient was confirmed positive based on the examination of PCR samples for lesions on the skin that had bruises on Friday (19/8) night.

The patient is a traveler from abroad and has symptoms of fever and rash in several parts of the body.

"There is a fever, then there is also an enlarged spleen, but he is in good condition, meaning he is not seriously ill and he has smallpox or rashes on his face, on the palms of the hands, feet and some around the genitals," he said.

His party appreciated the DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office for responding quickly when there were patients with symptoms of monkeypox by conducting a PCR examination to confirm the illness.

Syahril also explained that the patient only had mild symptoms and did not need to be treated in an isolation room, but only self-isolated at home.

Based on these findings, the Ministry of Health together with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office has conducted a close contact tracing of the patient.

The Ministry of Health informs that so far 23 suspected cases of monkeypox have been handled. Of these, 22 people tested negative for monkeypox through PCR examination.
