JAKARTA - The car carrying Achmad Hermanto Dardak (65), the father of the Deputy Governor of East Java Emil Elistianto Dardak, had an accident at KM 341+400 B of the Batang-Pemalang Toll Road, Central Java, Saturday before dawn, resulting in the victim's death.

The head of the Batang Polres Traffic Unit, AKP Dhayita Daneswari, said that Achmad Hermanto Dardak's body had been taken to the Aro General Hospital in Pekalongan City after an accident and was then sent to a funeral home in Jakarta.

"After the incident, the injured and dead were taken to the Emergency Installation (IGD) of RSU Aro Pekalongan and then taken by their families to a funeral home in Jakarta," he said in Batang quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, August 20.

The accident involved a Toyota Innova with police number B 2739 UFZ carrying Achmad Hermanto Dardak with his driver Angga Saputra (30) crashing into the back of the truck number K 1909 BH driven by Siswoyo (31), a resident of Pati Regency. The car entered from the Kalikangkung toll gate with the aim of Jakarta.

While on the highway, the car was traveling in lane 2 at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

Arriving at the scene of the case, which is in the Warungasem sub-district, Batang Regency, the driver of the Innova allegedly fell asleep so the car he was driving crashed into the back of the Hino Truck Nopol K-1909-BH which was traveling in the same direction.

As a result of the incident, the Toyota Innova car twisted facing south and suffered heavy damage to the front and left side, while the Hino truck suffered minor damage to the rear.

"Currently, we are still investigating the accident case. The victims who died have been brought to Jakarta," said Dhayita Daneswari.

A relative of the victim, Bambang Guritno, revealed that the dead victim Achmad Hermanto Dardak departed from Jakarta with his driver to attend the launching of Suharsoyo's biography in Semarang on Friday, August 18, and the event ended at 23.00 WIB.

After the event, the victim asked the driver to go straight home to Jakarta, while his relatives chose to stay in Semarang.

Unfortunately, at around 03.25 WIB, the vehicle the victim was traveling in had an accident. Relatives of the victim who planned to return to East Java received the information and went straight to Pekalongan City.

"After leaving Semarang, Pak Achmad Hermanto went straight to Jakarta, while I stayed overnight. At first I wanted to go straight back to East Java, but when I heard the news of the accident, I didn't go home and went straight to Pekalongan," he said.
