JAKARTA - The East Jakarta City Government (East Jakarta City Government) is normalizing the Dato Tonggara Reservoir in Kramat Jati District to anticipate flooding.

East Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar said the Dato Tonggara Reservoir would be dredged to a depth of five meters and an area of 3,500 meters.

"Hopefully this normalization can anticipate flooding from the Ciliwung River to residential areas," Anwar said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, August 19.

Anwar added that the normalization process for the Dato Tonggara Reservoir is targeted for completion in September this year.

Because of that, he has also instructed the relevant service units to increase the number of heavy equipment in the process of normalizing the Dato Tonggara Reservoir.

"I asked the SDA Sub-dept. to add heavy equipment so that dredging can be done quickly," said Anwar.

Meanwhile, Member of Commission C DPRD DKI Jakarta Province, Nasdiyanto said, the existence of the Dato Tonggara Reservoir has been long awaited by residents to anticipate flooding during the rainy season.

"We are monitoring it together, moreover, the mayor also emphasized that it must be completed next month," said Nasdiyanto.

Mayor Anwar did not specify how much budget was prepared for the normalization of the reservoir.
