JAKARTA - The Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) handed over a Land Use Rights Certificate on Borobudur Temple to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek).

This land certificate was handed over directly by the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN Hadi Tjahjanto to the Minister of Education and Technology Nadiem Makarim on Thursday, August 18.

Hadi conveyed that the Borobudur Temple certificate was part of the steps taken by the Ministry of ATR/BPN to register all land parcels in Indonesia through the Complete Systematic Land Registration (PTSL) program.

Especially for Borobudur Temple, Hadi said that the granting of this land certificate was a support for the Ministry of Education and Culture to develop tourism destination areas.

“This certificate is the result of the collaboration of various parties. Hopefully, the issuance of this certificate can provide support for tourism development in the Borobudur Super Priority Tourism Destination Area," Hadi said, quoted on Friday, August 19.

According to him, currently PTSL activities have succeeded in registering 74 percent of all land parcels in Indonesia, out of a total of 126 million parcels.

"Certification of government agency assets is part of PTSL that must be completed immediately, so that every plot of land in Indonesia can be registered and mapped properly," he said.

Meanwhile, Nadiem Makarim revealed that 2022 is a historic year for Borobudur Temple. At the beginning of the year, Borobudur Temple was approved as a place of worship for Hindus and Buddhists from all over the world.

Borobudur Temple is also placed as the host of the G20 Cultural High Level Meeting which will take place in September.

"With the issuance of the Right to Use Certificate for the land of Borobudur Temple, our efforts will be more complete to continue to advance the cultural heritage of the pride of the Indonesian nation," said Nadiem.

Nadiem also invited all parties to continue to strengthen mutual cooperation in managing the Borobudur Temple site with an orientation to the promotion of Indonesian culture.

"Let's work together to maintain sustainability and encourage the advancement of Borobudur Temple for the realization of the ideals of Cultural Independence," he added.
