Along With The Attorney General's Office, The KPK Ensures Not To Fight Over The Surya Darmadi Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it will not compete with the Attorney General's Office to investigate the case of PT Duta Palma Group owner Surya Darmadi. These two institutions will continue to coordinate to work on these entrepreneurs.

"We don't have the term fighting over cases, nothing," said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Karyoto as shown on the KPK RI YouTube, Friday, August 19.

The KPK, continued Karyoto, also opened the opportunity to delegate this case to the Attorney General's Office. "(Surya Darmadi, ed) at the KPK, the case is simpler because this is a bribe," he said.

"At the Attorney General's Office, it is a case involving Article 2 and Article 3 so that the fulfillment of asset recovery and the connection with the return of state losses will be better at the Attorney General's Office," Karyoto continued.

Even so, this opportunity will be discussed with the KPK leadership. "In principle, other law enforcement officers if they are able and willing, that is the purpose of the KPK. With a deputy for coordination and supervision," he said.

Previously, the Attorney General's Office named Surya Darmadi as a suspect in the alleged corruption of money laundering and the seizure of 37,095 hectares of palm oil land in Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau. He was named along with another suspect, Raja Thamsir Rahman who is a former regent of Indragiri Hulu.

After the determination of the suspect, Surya was summoned by the Attorney General's Office three times. However, he was absent because he was abroad, before finally giving himself up upon arrival at Soetta Tangerang Airport from Taiwan on August 15.

Meanwhile at the KPK, Surya Darmadi was named a suspect three years ago. This decision was made after investigators developed a case against former Riau Governor Annas Maamun.
