JAKARTA - The Central Kalimantan Provincial Government sent as many as 6,000 durian seeds of the Darkir variety to the National Capital Region (IKN) of the Archipelago in East Kalimantan.
"This is a directive from the Directorate of Horticultural Seeds for distribution to the IKN area," said Head of the Central Kalimantan Food Crops, Horticulture and Livestock Service (DTPHP) Riza Rahmadi in Palangka Raya as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 18.
The delivery of horticultural seeds in the form of durian of the Darkir variety was carried out, one of which was as a form of support for horticulture development in the IKN area.
As many as 6,000 durian seedlings were sent, the allocations included Paser, North Penajam Paser, and Kutai Kertanegara Regencies, each of which was allocated 2,000 stems.
Riza explained that dark durian seedlings were propagated by grafting techniques with local rootstocks and scions from the stems of the main trees from Pelantaran and Hapalam villages, Katingan.
"Hopefully, one of our horticultural icons is durian from Kasongan, Katingan, which is expected to grow in various regions and be increasingly recognized," he explained.
In addition to East Kalimantan, the seeds of this Darkir durian from Central Kalimantan will also be sent to West Kalimantan, covering Sanggau and Sekadau Regencies with a total of 4,000 seeds.
Riza explained, in addition to durian seeds, his party has also prepared other horticultural plant seeds in the form of banjar oranges, about 10 thousand seeds, which will also be sent to other regions.
"This activity is sourced from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) so that it will have an impact on Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP)," said Riza.
In addition to sending horticultural seeds to other regions, he explained that in Central Kalimantan, various types of fruit are also cultivated, such as durian, orange, longan, banana and others.
