Mukomuko Bengkulu Runs Out Of Rice For Natural Disaster Victims

MUKOMUKO - The Social Service Office of Mukomuko Regency, Bengkulu, has run out of stock of rice and other foodstuffs for the last few months to help victims of natural disasters.

"Usually there is a stock of rice at this agency, but since the last few months the stock has run out, so we have distributed the aid at the service to the victims," said Head of the Mukomuko Saroni Regency Social Service in Mukomuko, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 18.

Saroni said this when he received a proposal for assistance with various basic commodities, one of which was rice for fire victims in Sari Bulan Village, Air Dikit District, from the village head in the area.

The local government, through the Social Service, was only able to provide logistical assistance for natural disasters in the form of blankets, instant noodles and mineral water to residents whose houses were burnt down in Sari Bulan Village.

"If the amount of assistance from the service is not insignificant, it is sufficient to meet the food needs of residents who are victims of the fire for a day and two days," said Saroni.

All disaster logistical assistance that is still in service and distributed to residents whose houses were burnt down came from the central and provincial governments.

Meanwhile, rice aid and various foodstuffs for victims of natural disasters in the area came from the local government and sourced from the regional revenue and expenditure budget.

"Usually we provide two to three cans of rice to residents who are victims of natural disasters, and this assistance is also for the poor who are neglected and sick," he said.

Then he directed the villages in the regions to propose other assistance such as funds to buy materials to build burning houses to Baznas.

Apart from that, Saroni also suggested that village officials also propose a program for the construction or rehabilitation of houses damaged by burns to the Public Housing and Settlement Area Office of Mukomuko Regency.
