This Time The Buton Sultra Traditional Dress That Was Chosen By President Jokowi For The Seconds Of Independence Ceremony At The Palace

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo wears the Dolomani attire, which is the traditional Butonese attire, during the commemoration ceremony of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 17.

From the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube show, Jokowi appears to be wearing a red shirt with a matching head covering.

"This is a shirt from Buton, Southeast Sulawesi. This is a Dolomani shirt from Buton," Jokowi told reporters.

Previously, Jokowi had invited the public to guess what traditional clothes he would wear during the RI 77th Anniversary Ceremony. The guesses were uploaded on his official Instagram account @jokowi.

"Good morning. The peak of the commemoration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia is only two days away. As in previous years, the First Lady and I will come to the ceremony in regional traditional clothing," Jokowi wrote in his upload.

"The choices are really many, as many as the number of tribes in the archipelago," he continued.

For information, Jokowi today will directly lead the ceremony at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. This activity will start at 09.45 WIB.

In this ceremony, the Chairman of the DPD RI LaNyalla Mahmud Mattaliti will be tasked with reading the text of the proclamation. Meanwhile, the Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas will read the prayer.
