COVID-19 Update As Of August 16: 5,869 New Cases, DKI Jakarta Highest, Followed By West Java And Banten

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 112,409 specimens were examined with the results of 5,869 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 6,292,231 and active cases have increased by 41 to 52,222", said Ministry of Health data, Tuesday, August 16.

Today's recovered cases increased by 5,803 cases, bringing the total to 6,082,732 people recovered. Then, 25 positive confirmations died and a total of 157,277 people.

The province with the highest number of new cases is DKI Jakarta with 2,300 cases and a total of 1,348,715 cases. Followed by West Java with 774 new cases with a total of 1,143,303 cases. Banten has 486 new cases and a total of 317,116 cases. Then, East Java with 276 new cases and a total of 588,622 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an additional 2,720 recovered cases. Followed by Banten with an additional 524 recovered cases, West Java with an additional 523 recovered cases, and East Java with an additional 395 recovered cases.

In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens has reached 104,536,662.

"Positive results per number of people examined or the positivity rate of people this week is 9.75 percent", he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or currently categorized as suspected cases is 7,015 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

To date, 203,017,742 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 170,544,208. people underwent a second dose of vaccination. While the third dose of vaccination was 58,882,238 and the fourth dose was 270,888. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
