Ridwan Kamil: Building Bekasi Only Relying On The Regional Budget Will Never Be Enough

BEKASI - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil revealed that building Bekasi Regency by relying on the local Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) alone will never be enough.

"Don't assume that building Bekasi Regency will only focus on the Rp6 trillion APBD, a lifetime will never be enough," said Ridwan Kamil in his remarks at the Bekasi Regency 72nd Anniversary Plenary Session at the Bekasi Regency DPRD building, Monday, August 15.

He advised the executive and legislative ranks of Bekasi Regency to be able to pursue the budget that has been allocated by both the provincial government and the central government.

According to the man who is familiarly called RK, the local government budget is only able to manage the economic sector up to 20 percent, but on the other hand, there is a lot of potential budget that can be pursued to develop Bekasi Regency.

"The simple economic theory is that the APBD is only able to take care of the economy 17 to 20 percent. Kang Emil said the Bekasi Regency Government must have a lobby team for the APBN. "In this republic, sustenance must be picked up, you can't wait, take advantage of the West Java public agency in Jakarta," he said.

In addition to utilizing the central and provincial budgets, the Bekasi Regency Government, continued Kang Emil, can optimize corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds.

"There are 7,600 industries, if they are compact, CSR is two to three percent of income, building Bekasi Regency does not have to come from the APBD," he said.

Ridwan Kamil asked the local government to create a Bekasi Regency CSR Forum so that thousands of companies in the area could join the forum to fill the shortfall in the development budget.

"But CSR has one formula, if you don't ask for it, you don't get it, then create a CSR forum for Bekasi Regency, 7,000 of them join there, the good ones give awards that aren't good, please reprimand and so on. That will fill Bekasi Regency's shortcomings, " he said.
