Preparation For The 77th RI Anniversary Carnival, DKI Provincial Government Closes Monas Area August 16

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will close the National Monument (Monas) area to the public on Tuesday, August 16. The closing of the National Monument was carried out in preparation for the Pusaka flag carnival on August 17.

Head of the Monas Technical Management Unit Muhammad Isa Sanuri said that the closure of the Monas area was carried out for one day. On Independence Day, Monas was reopened.

"On August 16, 2022, the National Monument area and monument will be closed to the public for the smooth running of the flag carnival which will take place at the State Palace, and will reopen on August 17, 2022 at 08.00 WIB," Isa said when contacted on Monday, August 15.

On August 17, the public was allowed to visit Monas to see the flag carnival procession. However, such visits are allowed in the area. Meanwhile, the Monas monument remains closed.

"On Wednesday, when the Indonesian Independence Day is at 08.00, we will open it to the public because the public is given the opportunity to see the flag carnival," said Isa.

As is known, at the celebration of the 77th Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day, the DKI Provincial Government will hold a ceremony at the South Plaza of the National Monument (Monas) at 07.00 WIB. DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan will serve as ceremony inspector.

Furthermore, the Presidential Palace will hold a procession or procession of the Heirloom gender from Monas to the Merdeka Palace starting at 08.00 WIB.

The Heritage flag carnival is one of a series of routine Independence Day commemorations. However, for the past two years, this activity was temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
