The SAR Team Is Looking For One Fisherman From East Saparua, Central Maluku Who Was Reported Missing

AMBON - The joint SAR team assisted by residents of Negeri Ouw, East Saparua District, Central Maluku Regency are still looking for Jhony Sahetapy (46), a fisherman who was reported missing while at sea since Friday (12/8) afternoon.

"The victim reportedly went to sea with his colleague Stevy Hutubessy (40) around the waters between the Saparua and Nusalaut straits, but did not return home until midnight," said Head of the Ambon Basarnas Search and Rescue Office, Mustari, as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, August 13.

According to him, the joint SAR team began to be deployed after receiving a report from the King of Ouw Country, Wempy Pelupessy that one of his citizens had not returned to sea since Friday (12/8) 2022.

At 13.30 WIT, the Ambon SAR Office Rescue Team and elements of SAR potential were dispatched using KN SAR Abimanyu to the incident location at coordinates 6° 22' 43" S - 133° 33' 34" E, a distance of approximately 60.88 NM, Heading 78.36° east. Sea from the Ambon SAR Office.

Initially the victim went to sea using a long boat with his brother Stevy Hutubessy around the nearest FAD in the waters of Negri Ouw, and when he arrived at the FAD to carry out fishing activities, the long boat rope that had been tied was released and drifted away.

The victim tried to swim to take the long boat, but unfortunately until this information was reported the victim had not been found.

The people of Ouw Country have made search efforts so far and only long boats have been found on the coast of Ullath country.
