JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that money was found during a hand arrest operation (OTT) that ensnared Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung. Currently, investigators are still investigating the findings.
Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, said the money was found in rupiah denominations. However, the number is still unknown.
"A sum of cash in rupiah and other evidence was also secured as evidence in the arrest," Ali told reporters, Friday, August 12.
Ali said the amount and allocation of this money was still being clarified to the 32 people who were ensnared in OTT. Besides Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung, a number of officials at Pemalang Regency Government were also ensnared such as the Regional Secretary to the Head of the Service.
"The amount is still being clarified to the arrested parties. Currently, the KPK team is still making inquiries and clarifications to the parties who were arrested," he said.
"We will immediately convey the developments," said Ali.
Previously, Pemalang Regent Mukti Agung was caught by the OTT which was held by the KPK on Thursday, August 11. The anti-corruption commission suspects that bribery has taken place in connection with the sale and purchase of positions.
Regarding this activity, the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, reminded that Mukti Agung OTT should be a warning. Regional heads are asked to stay away from all forms of corruption.
"I've actually reminded my friends (regional heads in Central Java Province) many times and of course I'll wait for the developments," said Ganjar in Semarang, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 11.
According to Ganjar, communication in an effort to warn regional heads in Central Java Province not to be involved in corruption has been carried out intensely, especially since the Central Java Provincial Government has long cooperated with the KPK in preventing corruption.
"I always remind him because in fact our cooperation with law enforcement, with the KPK has been too frequent," he said.
Ganjar revealed that the KPK in each of its activities in Central Java does not only carry out socialization and education in eradicating corruption, but also includes warnings or codes that regional heads must pay attention to.
The emphasis, Ganjar continued, is self-control in each individual head of the region.
"Be careful, yes, in Central Java, there are things like buying and selling positions, there are people in Central Java who are playing projects, there are people who are like this which are considered evil. Now, at that time we have to exercise self-control," he said.
