Public Prosecutor Files Cassation In Case Of 5 Semarang PIP Tarunas Killing Juniors,

The suspect in the persecution case that led to the death of a Semarang PIP cadet named Zidan Muhammad Faza underwent reconstruction at the Semarang Police Headquarters (ANTARA-IC Senjaya)

JAKARTA - The public prosecutor (JPU) of the Semarang District Attorney's Office (Kejari) will file an appeal against the verdict in the case of the persecution of five Semarang Marine Polytechnic (PIP) cadets who killed their junior, Zidan Muhammad Faza.

"The prosecutor will file an appeal after officially receiving a copy of the appeal decision from the high court," said Iman Khilman, Head of the Intelligence Section of the Semarang District Attorney's Office in Semarang, Central Java, Friday, August 12.

According to him, the prosecutor has received notification of the appeal decision and is still waiting for a copy of the verdict.

As for the reason for filing the cassation itself, according to him, the appeal decision handed down by the Central Java High Court (PT Jateng) was far below the prosecutor's demands.

Previously, the Central Java High Court slashed the sentences of five Semarang PIP cadets, accused of the crime of assault that killed Zidan Muhammad Faza.

The defendants, respectively, Caecar Richardo Bintang Samudra Tampubolon, Aris Riyanto, Andre Arsprilla Arief, and Albert Jonathan Ompusungu, were sentenced to 2 years in prison, less than the 7-year sentence of the first instance court.

Another defendant, Budi Dharmawan, was sentenced to 1 year from the previous 6 years in prison.

The incident of abuse against his junior occurred on September 6, 2021 at Mes Indoraya Semarang.

In that incident, maltreatment by the five defendants caused the death of cadet Zidan Muhammad Faza and 14 other cadets experienced pain in the abdomen due to punches and/or kicks.
