DPR Can Encourage Police To Reveal The Motive For The Shooting Of Brigadier J

JAKARTA - The DPR must be able to carry out a good supervisory function in disclosing the shooting case of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yoshua Hutabarat or Brigadier J. Polri as a government institution must continue to monitor its performance, especially in cases that have attracted public attention such as the case of the death of Brigadier J.

"The chairman of the DPR's firm statement that the Police are transparent and that nothing is covered up in this case is in line with the aspirations of the people, who want this case to be clearly disclosed," said Political Communication Observer from the University of Indonesia, Arie Juanedi, Thursday, August 11. .

Ari considered that DPR Speaker Puan Maharani's firm statement was very important so that the public would not be drained of energy by gossiping about the issues that are still unclear surrounding the shooting case of Brigadier J.

"So Puan, as the head of an institution that represents the people, has the responsibility of supervising the Police, so that public energy is not drained by continuously gossiping about the scandals that are still unclear within the Police," said Ari.

"If the case is clear, bright, the public will not gossip about it again, so that the energy of this nation can be used again for productive things, moreover we will soon celebrate the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia," added Ari.

Ari assessed that the statement from the Chairman of the DPR was not only important so that the Police could quickly resolve the case in a transparent manner, but also so that the Bhayangkara Corps could then continue its duties to serve the community.

“If the National Police is not supervised by the DPR in this case, public services by the Police may be neglected because the Police's energy is drained in this case. But now the DPR has asked for this case to be resolved quickly, so that the Police can refocus on their duties to serve the community," said Ari.

Regarding the motives that have not been disclosed by the National Police, said Ari, the DPR, in its supervisory function, which does not conflict with the procedural law, can then encourage law enforcers to reveal it in DPR forums.

"It could be that later when the DPR meets with the National Police Chief, for example, the legislators at the Law Commission will ask about the motive that has not been disclosed yet," said Ari.

Previously, it was reported that the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, asked the National Police to immediately resolve the shooting case that caused the death of Brigadier J in a transparent manner.

"Moreover, this case has garnered considerable public attention," said Puan.

Puan requested that no party try to obscure or even cover up the case that has become public attention.

"This concerns the loss of a person's life, the National Police must work professionally to resolve this case, as well as resolve wild issues that are now widely circulating in the community," said the first woman who served as Chair of the Indonesian Parliament.

Puan reminded that there is a lot at stake for the Police if the resolution of the case of Brigadier J's death is not carried out professionally. He also said that the community had been closely monitoring how the Police were solving this case.

"It will set a bad precedent if this issue is not properly resolved. And the impact will cause public distrust of the Police," said Puan.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture stated that the DPR would continue to monitor the progress of the investigation into the case. Puan emphasized that the settlement of this case must be carried out fairly according to applicable law.
