Green Light For Airlangga To Be KIB's Presidential Candidate, So The Vice Presidential Candidate Is Zulhas Or Suharso?

JAKARTA - West Java Golkar DPD chairman Ace Hasan Syadzily confirmed that his party will nominate its general chairman, Airlangga Hartarto, as a presidential candidate (candidate) in 2024.

"The Golkar Party itself is very solid in determining Airlangga Hartarto as a presidential candidate," said Ace Hasan Syadzily at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 10.

Airlangga's candidacy has also received the green light from political parties that are members of the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB). Meanwhile, regarding the vice presidential candidate (cawapres), he said, it would be discussed together with the National Mandate Party (PAN) and the United Development Party (PPP).

"The matter of the representatives will definitely be discussed together in the KIB discussion," he said.

Then whether Airlangga is final, he will be promoted as a KIB presidential candidate, so the next step is to choose a vice presidential candidate from the internal coalition as stated by PPP Deputy Arsul Sani, Ace cannot confirm yet.

Whether the General Chairperson of PAN Zulkifli Hasan or PPP Chief Suharso Monoarfa who is a candidate for vice president, Ace said the discussion would be held at a later time.

"Of course what must be an important note is that we show this KIB to nominate internal party cadres. That's the spirit that KIB wants to build," said Ace.

Ace also doesn't mind if there are PAN and PPP cadres who don't agree with Airlangga's nomination as a presidential candidate promoted by KIB. Because, he said, the decision remains with the general chairperson of each political party. "We certainly respect the aspirations of every political party, but the main discussion is at the party chairman level. I think the party chairman has already mentioned that politically what will be prepared to become presidential candidates are internal parties," said Ace.

On the other hand, Ace is optimistic that Golkar can calm the 2024 election. In the last election, Golkar was in second place as the winning political party.

"Of course, if we won 2nd place yesterday, how could we have a target of returning to 2nd place, yes, 1st because that is our goal with political parties, how to win the party in the 2024 election," he said.
