Ask Brigadier J's Family To Be Patient, Mahfud MD: Hopefully God Intervenes To Make It Easy For Justice To Be Upheld

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD asked the family of Brigadier Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J to be patient. They are asked to continue to trust law enforcement agencies.

"I beg you to remain patient and continue to give confidence to our law enforcement agencies, namely the Police, the Attorney General's Office, and the courts," Mahfud said in a press conference broadcast on the YouTube of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Tuesday, August 9.

Mahfud said that he always heard statements from the victim's family, including Brigadier J's father, who wanted the shooting of his son to be over. He asked the family to continue praying so that law enforcement can run optimally.

"We always hear that his father is deceased. Hopefully, God will intervene to make it easier to reveal who the perpetrators are so that justice can be done," said the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK).

"Continue to hope for God's justice to be a guide for efforts to uphold human justice," continued Mahfud.

Furthermore, Mahfud ensured that the government would continue to oversee the shooting of Brigadier J until the court process. "Hopefully it won't be too long and it will be brought to court with serious charges and prosecutions," he said.

The Prosecutor's Office which will carry out the prosecution is asked to have the same spirit as the Police. So, this case can be investigated thoroughly and the perpetrators can be held accountable for their actions.

"We will all supervise the Prosecutor's Office now and encourage them to have the same spirit as the Police," he said.

"The prosecutor must be really professional in handling this case with a strong legal construction so that it will be easier for the court and the public to understand this case as an effort to enforce law and justice," added Mahfud.

As previously reported, Inspector General Ferdy Sambo was named a suspect in the murder case of Brigadier Nopryansah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J. The appointment of a new suspect in this case was announced directly by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

"Timsus has named brother FS as a suspect," said Sigit at a press conference at the National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 9.

Sigit revealed the role of Ferdy Sambo in the shooting case against Brigadier J at his halfway house on July 8. The former Head of the National Police Propam Division allegedly ordered Bharada Richard Eliezer (Bharada E) to kill Brigadier J.

Inspector General Ferdy Sambo is also suspected of devising a scenario as if Brigadier J was killed in a shootout. However, regarding the motive for the murder, the National Police Chief said his party was still investigating.

Besides Ferdy Sambo, the National Police Chief has also named another new suspect with the initials KM. However, Listyo has not explained about KM.

With the stipulation of Ferdy Sambo and KM, there are a total of four suspects in the case of Brigadier J's murder, namely Bharada Eliezer (E), Brigadier Ricky Rizal (RR), Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, and KM.

All suspects were charged with Article 340, subsidiary to Article 338 in conjunction with Article 55 in conjunction with Article 56 of the Criminal Code and were threatened with a maximum sentence of the death penalty.
