BALIKPAPAN - As many as 25 residents of Sepaku, the area of the first circle of the National Capital Region (IKN) Nusantara in Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, will take part in training for heavy equipment excavator operators in Samarinda and surveyors in Medan.

"Today, nine participants went to the Medan Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BBPVP) for training for surveyors or land surveyors," said Sepaku District Secretary Adi Kustaman as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 8.

Previously, 16 people were hosteled for 35 days at BPVP Samarinda. They are training to become excavator operators.

Kustaman explained that participants who can pass the training program will receive a competency certificate and a training certificate.

Excavator operator training participants will also receive an Occupational Safety and Health (K3) license and an Operator Permit Certificate (SIO).

The surveyors who graduated from BBVP Medan will also receive a competency certificate from the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP).

With all these certificates of expertise, it is hoped that residents will not be left behind in seizing opportunities for IKN development. The expertise of the certificate holders is sure to be indispensable in the physical construction phase which is about to begin.

Furthermore, the Head of BBPV Samarinda Amran said that there would be another community training group in the near future to be dispatched to BBPVP Semarang, BBPVP Bandung, and BPVP West Bandung.

In addition, there will be Training and Certification of Construction Workers organized by the Directorate General of Construction Development, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing which will start at the end of August until September 2022.

The training locations are in several areas including Sepaku District, Babulu District, Penajam District, and Waru District.

"Our desire is that the local community does not become a spectator in this IKN development," said Kustaman.
