Considered Not Decisive In Responding To The Rizieq Crowd, Anies Touches The Pilkada And Affirms That Violations Are Acted

JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan responded to the opinion that he was not strict about violating the health protocol of the masses of FPI leaders because they did not prevent crowds.

When asked about this, Anies spoke about the simultaneous regional elections 2020. According to Anies, the Jakarta Provincial Government is still more proactive in reminding the importance of health protocols compared to the implementation of the 2020 Pilkada.

"You see Pilkada throughout Indonesia is taking place, are there any (official) letters reminding the organizers of the importance of adhering to health protocols?" said Anies at the DKI DPRD building, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Monday, November 16.

Anies then talked about the prosecution that was carried out by imposing a sanction of IDR 50 million from the Prophet Muhammad's birthday and the wedding ceremony that was held by Rizieq was right.

The DKI Provincial Government, said Anies, has carried out according to the provisions. These provisions are contained in the DKI Governor Regulation (Pergub) Number 79 of 2020 and DKI Governor Regulation Number 80 of 2020.

"When there is a violation of the health protocol, the violation will be dealt with as soon as possible. In less than 24 hours, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government enforces the rules. This means that those who violate must be dealt with," explained Anies.

One of the criticisms regarding the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's attitude in facing the Rizieq crowd came from an epidemiologist from the University of Indonesia, Syahrizal Syarif.

From the crowd case that Rizieq and his followers have repeatedly carried out, Syarif views that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is not handling COVID-19 strictly and does not provide education to prevent the return of the crowd.

"If it does make education, then the implementation is firm. The crowd that occurs, whether it is the pick-up, or the Prophet's birthday, I see that the DKI Provincial Government is indecisive," Syarif told VOI.

If the handling of COVID-19 in DKI continues to run loosely when the pandemic is not under control, Syarif estimates that an even higher spike in cases will occur in the next one to two weeks. This is because DKI is the largest contributor to cases in Indonesia.
