BANDA ACEH - The Banda Aceh Search and Rescue (SAR) Office has evacuated the body of an angler who was previously reported missing by the current in the waters of Lhoknga Beach, Aceh Besar District.

Head of the Banda Aceh SAR Office Ibnu Harris Al Hussain said the victim was Nazaruddin, 31 years old, a resident of Lingom Village, Indrapuri District, Aceh Besar District.

"The victim was reported to have been swept away by ocean currents while fishing on Lhoknga Beach, Aceh Besar District, two days ago," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, August 6.

Ibnu Harris said that people who swam on the beach had seen the victim floating in a condition that was estimated to have died on Friday (5/8) at around 17.00 WIB.

However, when they were about to be evacuated, the victim was dragged away by the current. The victim was being sought at that time. However, until late at night the victim was not found, so the search for the victim continued the next day.

Ibnu Harris Al Hussain said that the search and rescue operation for the victim was continued on Saturday (6/8) starting at 07.30 WIB. The search area in waters with a radius of up to three nautical miles from the last point the victim was seen.

"The search for victims is also carried out on land by combing Lhoknga Beach up to two kilometers from where the last victim was reported missing," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain.

Ibnu Harris Al Hussain said the victim was finally found after nearly three hours of searching. The victim's body was found in the waters two kilometers to the east of the point where the victim was lost by the current.

Furthermore, the victim was evacuated to the beach and then taken to the Zainoel Abidin Regional General Hospital in Banda Aceh using an ambulance, said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain.

"With the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation is closed and the personnel involved are returned to their respective units or agencies. Apart from Basarnas personnel, the search also involves the Police, TNI, and the surrounding community," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain.
