JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning and asked the public to be aware of the potential for high waves of up to six meters that occurred in several Indonesian waters in the period 6-7 August 2022.

In a written statement from the BMKG, Saturday, August 6, as reported by Antara, it was stated that an increase in waves as high as 1.25-2.50 meters was likely to occur in the northern Malacca Strait, eastern waters of the Simeulue Islands-Mentawai Islands, northern Sawu Sea, Natuna Sea and North Natuna Sea. .

Waves as high as 1.25-2.5 meters also have the potential to occur in the waters of the Anambas-Natuna Sea, the Makassar Strait, the northern Bali-Lombok Strait, the western Banda Sea, the southern waters of Timor Island, the eastern Arafuru Sea, the waters of the Sermata-Letti Islands. .

The BMKG also warned of the potential for waves as high as 2.5-4 meters in the western waters of Aceh, northern waters of Sabang Island, western waters of Simeulue Island-Mentawai Islands, Bengkulu-Enggano waters, western waters of Lampung, western Indian Ocean of Sumatra, southern Sunda Strait. and the southern waters of Banten-East Java.

The same warning was given to the southern waters of Bali-Sumba, the southern Indian Ocean of West Java, the southern Indian Ocean of Lombok, the southern part of the Bali-Lombok-Alas Strait, the waters of Sawu Island, the southern part of the Sawu Sea and the western part of the Sumba Strait.

Meanwhile, waves as high as 4-6 meters are likely to occur in the southern Indian Ocean in the Central Java-Bali region.
