How Do Communication Experts Analyze Puan Maharani's Activities?

JAKARTA - The steps taken by the Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, who met more with residents, received praise. In contrast to various other political figures who have started to conduct political safaris ahead of the 2024 General Election, Puan is more likely to come down to meet the people.

"The chairman of the DPR, Puan Maharani, who made a working visit to various regions such as Central Java, East Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi to Papua, is an example of a good legislator leadership. This step by Puan deserves to be appreciated," said a lecturer at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Multimedia Nusantara University ( UMN), Silvanus Alvin, Friday 5 August.

According to this Political Communication Expert, Puan fully understands her duties and responsibilities as Chair of the DPR. In fact, said Alvin, Puan as one of the national political elites also has an important role in establishing serious communication with party officials.

“In the midst of political nuances, Puan put forward the right steps, conducting a people's safari, not a political safari. As a member of the DPR, of course, the absorption of aspirations can only be obtained when it goes directly to the people," he said.

Even though the 2024 election is approaching, Puan prefers to focus on the people. Puan is still consistent in carrying out her duties as a member of the DPR, both from legislation, supervision, to the budget for government programs.

"Surely this sends a good message to other legislators that people's affairs must take precedence over political affairs," said Alvin.

The first woman who served as Chair of the DPR RI was also considered capable of showing the results of her performance. Even the existence of Puan is recognized in the eyes of the world.

Alvin gave an example of how world leaders acknowledged Puan's success in holding the 144th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which is a prestigious international parliamentary forum. Puan's ideas and ideas in world forums are much appreciated.

"Puan has also succeeded in realizing the ratification of Law (UU) Number 12 of 2022 concerning the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS) which has been fought for for a long time by various elements of society," said the Lecturer at the Distance Learning Study Program at UMN.

"And Puan continues to consistently fight for the interests and protection of women and children, including through the Bill on Maternal and Child Welfare," added Alvin.

Alvin also highlighted how Puan often absorbs people's aspirations to remote areas of the country. Even Puan did not hesitate to sit down with the farmers, market traders, and scavengers to listen to their worries and hopes.
