IPW Urges National Police Chief To Fire 25 Police Who Are Allegedly Unprofessional In Handling The Death Case Of Brigadier J

JAKARTA - Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) has asked the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to give strict sanctions in the form of Disrespectful Dismissal (PTDH) to its members who are suspected of being unprofessional in handling the murder case of Brigadier J.

Originally, 25 members of the National Police were questioned by the Special Inspectorate (Irsus) in the aftermath of the bloody incident that killed Brigadier J.

"They have committed a serious violation of the Police Professional Code of Ethics (KEPP) in the form of being unprofessional in carrying out their duties," said IPW Chair Sugeng Teguh Santoso in his statement, Friday, August 5.

In addition, Sugeng also mentioned Article 1 point 5 of the National Police Chief Regulation Number 14 of 2011 concerning the Police Professional Code of Ethics. The rule is regarding subordinates who are obliged to refuse all orders from superiors if they are not in accordance with applicable norms or rules.

"In the case of the police shooting the police at Inspector General Ferdy Sambo's house, many members were forced to be examined ethically for obstruction of justice. So, there was an unprofessional, disproportionate and unprocedural investigation," he explained.

Then, in Article 7 paragraph (1) of the Regulation of the National Police Chief Number 14 of 2011 concerning the professional code of ethics for the National Police, it is stated that every member of the National Police is obliged to be loyal to the Police as a field of service to the community, nation and state by guiding and upholding Tribrata and Catur Prasetya.

Then, maintain and improve the image, solidity, credibility, reputation, and honor of the Police. Dam carries out its duties professionally, proportionally, and procedurally.

Therefore, Sugeng emphasized that the violations committed by 25 members of the National Police in handling the case of Brigadier J were very much against Articles 13 and 14 of the National Police Chief Regulation Number 14 of 2011 concerning the Police Professional Code of Ethics.

"Every member of the National Police is prohibited from making decisions that are contrary to the provisions of the legislation because of the influence of family, fellow members of the Police, or third parties, abusing their authority in carrying out official duties," said Sugeng.
