Ternate Takome Residents Attacked By Crocodiles While Fishing In Lake, Basarnas And Residents Conduct Search Efforts

TERNATE - Basarnas Ternate, North Maluku (Malut) deployed personnel assisted by the local community to search for a resident of Takome, Ternate City who was reported missing, suspected of being attacked by a crocodile.

"The male victim was reported missing while fishing in Lake Tolire," said Head of the Ternate Basarnas Fathur Rahman in Ternate as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, August 2.

He said that the chronology of the incident received by the Ternate Basarnas at around 16.30 WIT showed that six teenagers who were also local residents went down to Lake Tolire to fish.

At around 16.50 WIT, suddenly a crocodile appeared and pounced on one person. According to information from local residents, the victim who was attacked was named Varjan Idham.

As a result of the incident, five other teenagers immediately fled and reported to Bhabinkamtibnas and the surrounding community and asked the SAR team for help.

"At around 17.40 WIT, the Ternate Basarnas Rescue Team moved to the LKP (incident location) using 1 Rescue Car and brought SAR equipment to carry out SAR operations," said Fathur Rahman.

Meanwhile, previously, a resident of Makian. South Halmahera was reported missing because it was attacked by a crocodile in the river in Bale Village, Oba, Tidore Island City (Tikep), North Maluku (Malut) and finally found dead.

At that time, the joint SAR team sent to LKP arrived in Bale Village at 10.45 WIT, and immediately coordinated with the local Village apparatus and the Joint SAR Team received information that at 10.00 WIT, the local community managed to find a victim named Koda Ismail (46 years old) in he died and was immediately taken to a relative's house in Bale Village.

Furthermore, the Joint SAR Team and their families took the victim to the residence in Gorup Village, Makian Island using RIB 02 Ternate and a speedboat unit and the Joint SAR Team arrived at Gorup Village, Makian Island, and immediately handed over the victim to the family.
